Conclusions & Recommendations

After a review of the DeWeese Dye Ditch and Reservoir companies ditch

system, the Sol I Conservation Service has identified several critical

areas of need that DeWeese needs to address. The Long Term Agreement

with the Agricultural Stabl I Izatlon and Conservation Service (ASCS) has

provided the means to address several critical areas with matching funds

In the amount of 1~6,~~~.~~ dollars over a five year period. These

funds along with monies that are being appl led for through the State

Water Conservation Board wll I address the fol lowing areas.
- 38~ I.f. 36" reinforced concrete pipe from Poplar to Pine Street.
- 636 I.f. ditch lining from Cobalt Street to Elm Street. This will
tie In with ditch lining completed In 1987 and wil I prevent seepage
losses and water damage to Highway 115.
- 68Z I.f. 36" reinforced concrete pipe from 4th Street to existing
I ining at HI I I Top. This wi i I prevent ditch overtopping and flooding of
basements and residential areas along ditch.
- 3,~~~ i.f. of concrete ditch lining from Locust to Pinon Street. The
ditch runs through several areas of gravel and at one point the water
seeps out of the ditch Into an old fracture that runs Into old coal beds
In the area.
- 737 I.f. of 36" reinforced concrete pipe from the siphon at the
railroad tracks to 4th Street.

This work although scheduled over a five year _period, wi I I be completed
during one season providing Colorado State Water Conservation Board
funds become available. There are other areas along the ditch that need
work including ditch I ining from Weir to tunnel along a formation cal led
