Well No. 5 is located approximately 2000 feet north of town

in the NW quarter of the NW quar~er of Section 27. The well was completed

7/10/73 by Crandall Drilling & Trenching, Inc., Strasburg, Colorado, and the

drillers log and pump installation records are available. The well is 649

feet deep with 6-5/8" O.D. plain casing set to 280 feet and a 6-5/8" O.D. per-

forated casing from 280 feet to 649 feet. The well was cement grouted at

intervals of 12 feet to 32 feet and 160 feet to 210 feet with a clayfill

from 32 feet to 160 feet. The static water level was 128 feet and the well

was pump tested for 24 hours at 200 gallons per minute with a final pumping

water level of 420 feet. The pump setting is at 441 feet and the well is

equipped with a 30 liP Sta-Rite submersible pump, Model No. H190PGR4-2 673.

The well head is sealed and the driller reports than an underground vent pipe

to the well house was installed. This is not a normal breather instal1ation

and there may be some question as to whether it is operating properly. The

installation is equipped with a 975 gallon round vertical pressure tank.

Pump control is provided by a Hercoid pressure control and the system dis-

charges directly to the main. Production from the well is estimated at

145 gpm by the Town and the discharge is unmetered. The pump controller is

mal-functioning or improperly adjusted, and the well is currently being

operated manually. The Town reports that this well pumps air bubbles much

of the time. The drawdown on this well should be checked to see if the

drawdown is exceeding the pump setting. Also the pressure tank should be

drained and the piping configuration into and out of the tank checked to

determine whether air is being introduced at the tank.

Well No.6. Well No. 6 is located approximately 1800 feet southwest

of town in the SE quarter of the NE quarter of Section 33. The well was

completed 6/29/74 by Crandall Drilling & Trenching, Inc., Strasburg,

Colorado, and the drillers log is available.
