Bennett currently has six water supply wells of varying ages,

capacities and condition. Pertinent data on each well and pump system as

derived from the limited data available is listed below. The wells are

located as shown on Plate I and wells 111 through Its are 10cated in Section 27

which is included in the Kiowa and Bijou Creek basin. Well #6 is

located in Section 33 which is included in the ~ost Creek basin.

Wells no. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 derive their water from the Arapahoe aquifer

while well no. 3 penetrates and is supplied by the Fox Hills sandstone

aquifer.
Well No.1. Well No.1 is located in a pit in back of the City Hall.
It is reported to have been drilled in the early 1930's. The dri11ers log

of the well is not recorded and the only data available on the well was

furnished by Holden-Holden Co., Hudson, Colorado, who exchanged or repaired

the pump in 1963, 1968, 1969 and 1970. The well is reported to be 400 feet

deep with 6" O.D. casing to 300 feet and 5" O.D. casing to 400 feet. There is

an offset noted in the casing at 360 feet. Static water level is reported

at 125 feet and a pump setting of 357 feet. The well is equipped with a

5 HP Sta-Rite submersible pump Model No. 40P4J3. Information is not available

as to whether the casing was grouted or if the well was gravel packed.

The Town reports that the pump does not operate consistently and the pump dis-

charge'column.is crooked so they are unable to pull the pump. Production from the

well is estimated at 30 gallons per minute by the Town, and the pump discharges

through a 2~-inch pipe to the underground storage tank. The pump discharge

is not metered.

-15-
