II
, I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

6.7 Cost Estimate and Schedule

A cost estimate for the proposed pipeline alternative from Station 718 + 00 to Station 822 + 21 is
presented in Table 6.2. The cost presented in Table 6.2 is based on published rates, engineers
estimates for similar projects in Colorado and interviews with pipeline contractors. The costs
presented in this Table should be considered preliminary in nature and are used in this report only
for cost comparison between alternatives presented. During the final design study and prior to
construction, a more detailed cost estimate will be prepared which will more accurately reflect the
actual construction costs.

Due to lack of final design information, the following assumptions were made in preparation of the

subject table:

I) The final alignment and configuration will remain the same as those presented in this
report.

2) Section I will require hard excavation including some blasting.

3) Section II will require excavation support, traffic control, and normal excavation with some
minor blasting.

4) Section III will require excavation of soft collapsible ground, use of excavation support, de-
watering, and special reclamation requirements.

5) Section IV will require boring and jacking the pipe into embankment material with
occasional boulders and cobbles. No soft ground or need for de-watering is anticipated at
this time.

6) Section V will require construction of cofferdam, soft ground excavation, and de-watering.

7) Section VI will require excavation of soft ground, de-watering, use of some support system,
and special reclamation requirements.

8) Section VII will require construction of cofferdam, soft ground excavation, and de-watering.

9) Section IV will require boring and jacking the pipe into embankment material with
occasional boulders and cobbles. No soft ground or need for de-watering is anticipated at
this time.

40
