Project Description

e

The purpose of this project is to provide a means for the Silt Water Conservancy District
to continue providing irrigation water to shareholders while minimizing the occurrence of future
disruptions of water flow, These alternatives were considered,

1, Continue with the existing management.
2, To replace the current inadequate diversion with new technology,

Alternative No.1 would involve maintaining the existing diversion. This would include
continuing to rebuild it annually, This alternative was eliminated due to cost, and because it did
not provide a permanent solution to the problem,

The selected alternative, Alternative No.2, involves the construction of a new diversion
approximately 1,000 feet upstream from the existing diversion, The water will be transferred in
940 feet of 42" HDPE low head irrigation pipe carrying 40 cubic feet of irrigation water to the
original ditch system,

Engineering designs and cost estimates for the project have been prepared by the NRCS,
Preliminary plans as prepared by the NRCS are attached in the back pocket of this study.

The NRCS estimates the costs of the completed project at $164,400.00, The NRCS cost
breakdown for the project is given below in Table 2, Operation and maintenance costs for this
project are expected to be minimal over the next thirty years,

.

Table 2.
