<br />(2) Reshaping of the channel is required through much of the
<br />alignment to provide a uniform cross-section, Sloughing of
<br />the banks can be minimized by flattening of the slopes, A
<br />uniform cross-section combined with adequate protection on
<br />horizontal curves will help minimize turbulence and retard
<br />erosion, All trees along the ditch banks interfering with
<br />flows should be removed,
<br />
<br />(3) We suggest that test borings be drilled along the alignment to
<br />determine the characteristics of the soil and to evaluate
<br />vertical seepage losses that may be occurring, Scarification
<br />and recompaction of the channel cross-section may be required
<br />to help reduce seepage losses,
<br />
