I
I
I
I
I
I

Housing in Georgetown consists of approximately 350 residences and 50 multi-family units (2.5
people per unit). Assuming 500 square-feet of lawn per housing unit, total area of irrigated lawn
within Georgetown is 4.6 acres. In addition, Georgetown's irrigated park areas are estimated to equal
4.6 acres, bringing the total to 9.2 acres.

The 1990 Water Rights Study conducted by MWI3 calculated the augmentation water needs, assuming
a dry year similar to 1954. The water requirements was 8.63 acre-feet for all existing domestic
requirements, and 2.97 acre-feet is outside lawn watering is curtailed. This is an approximation of
the amount of augmentation water the town needs for existing uses. (Refer to the 1990 MWE Study
in Appendix E.)

In summary, Georgetown needs to acquire additional water rights to replace depletions caused by its
out of priority diversions.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Feasibility Study: Town of Georgetown
Water Rights Acquisition Project
January 1996

2
