I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

7.0 ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST AND SCHEDULE

The estimated costs for implementing the various aspects of the
remedial construction at Gurley Reservoir Dam are included in Appendix K.
The major items included in the estimate are as follows:

1. Mobilization and demobilization;
2. Development of borrow area;
3. Coffer dam construction;
4. Demobilization of existing intake structure;
5. Excavation of working area;
6. Relining outlet tunnels;
7. Construction of new intake structure;
8. Installation of new sluice gate and operating system;
g. Breaching of coffer dam;
10. Construction of grouting platform;
11. Foundation drilling, water testing and grouting; and
12. Confirmation drilling and water testing.

The estimated total cost for completing all of these items is
approximately $609,000. This cost does not include contingencies,
engi neeri ng costs, or owner costs such as. interest, insurance, taxes,
and contract administration. Actual bid prices for the work may vary
depending upon the season of the work, experience and work load of the
contractors and their willingness to accept risk.

The estimated construction costs indicate that this design provides
a reasonably cost effective solution to improving outlet works condition
and performance, and reduci ng the potenti al for conti nued generati on of
foundation sinkholes. We estimate that construction of the
remedial/measures can be completed in a 10-week period provided the
conduit liner and slide gate and hoist has been pre-ordered. Earthwork
may be completed in two weeks, relining of the outlet works in six
weeks, and construction of a new intake structure with slide gate
installed in two weeks. The foundation grouting program may be completed
in eight to ten weeks and can be completed concurrently with the outlet
works rehabilitation program.

-28-
