The holes in the downstream 1 ine will be oriented
downstream and inclined 250 from the vertical or 650 below the
horizontal. Present thought regarding the upstream line is that the
holes will be oriented upstream and inclined 15 or 200 from the
vertical. The center line holes will be oriented downstream and
i nc 1 i ned about 200 from the vert i ca 1. The 1 i nes wi 11 be
approximately 10 ft apart at the top of rock and the location of
the lines are illustrated in the attached figures. Depending on the
capability of the drill equipment, an alternative arrangement would
be to drill all the holes parallel to the holes of the downstream
1 ine.

In order to maximize lateral travel of the grout, the holes
will be grouted from the bottom up (upstage) in 10 ft stages. It is
believed that if the holes are grouted from the top down
(downstage), there may be more vertical than lateral travel of the
grout. Cement-bentonite grout will be used and the initial mix will
be 3:1 (water:cement) mix. Criteria will be defined in the
specifications for thickening if necessary.

The casing will either be pulled from the embankment or left
inplace depending upon cost considerations and the holes backfilled
with cement-bentonite grout in about five or six ft stages to.
minimize the risk of hydraulically fracturing the embankment.

The confirmation coring program will consist of approximately
five NX size coreholes. Visual appraisals of the retrieved core
will be used in conjunction wi th water test results to judge the
efficiency of the grouting program and the need for additional
grout holes.

-27-
