<br />.--, <br />- ) <br />\. <br /> <br />.-) <br /> <br />TASK Ell.O <br /> <br />SAN MIGUEL CANYON HYDROPOWER PROJECT <br /> <br />Pumose: <br /> <br />Better defme the potential for hydropower developed and identify apparent major concerns <br /> <br />and potential fatal flaws. <br /> <br />MethodoloIN: Address geological/geotechnical conditions, power markets and transmission capacities. <br /> <br />These investigations will expand on the initial Phase I work effort but will be very limited in <br /> <br />nature consistent with the budget made available for this task. <br /> <br />Ell.l GeolosricaI/Geotechnical Conditions - The geological/geotechnical conditions at the upper <br /> <br />and lower reservoir sites and along the penstock route will be investigated. Faulting and <br /> <br />seismic considerations in the vicinity of the site will be addressed. <br /> <br />El1.1.1 Reservoir Sites and Penstock - Surficial geological investigations of the upper <br /> <br />and lower sites will be made to assess the following: <br /> <br />o Structural character of the bedrock (i.e. jointing, fracturing and <br /> <br />faulting) with respect to foundation support conditions. <br /> <br />o Character and availability of potential construction materiaIs ( i.e. <br /> <br />RCC or conventional concrete aggregate, rockfill, fUter/drain <br /> <br />material, impermeable core material and riprap material). <br /> <br />25 <br />
