.-)

~)

curves for the gage sections will be developed by a series of current meter measurements

covering as wide a range of flows as practicable, Ditch company personnel will periodically

record stage heights at each gage with special emphasis on noting the maximum stage attained

during the 1988 runoff season. Hydraulic ,:alculations will be used to estimate the maximum

capacity for each ditch should the maximum recorded discharge for the season be less than the

maximum ditch capacity,

For the Gurley Intake Ditch, the capacities for each diversion structure and the limiting
section of each ditch reach between diver, aon structures will be estimated. Ditch company

personnel will assist in the identification of the section limiting the capacity of each ditch reach

between diversion structures, Diversion structure capacities will be estimated based on

hydraulic calculations using the dimensions and flow conditions of each structure and current

meter data collected for one flow. Ditch capacities at the limiting sections between diversion
structures will be estimated from ditch gl:ometry data, depth of flow measurements in the
ditch, and an associated discharge measured either at the diversion structure immediately
upstream or at the cross section, If no !,ignificant inflows to the ditch occur between the
limiting cross section and the diversion structure. the flow measured at the diversion structure

will be used, If significant inflows are observed between the limiting cross section and the

upstream diversion structure. the flow will be measured at the cross section. The approximate

diversion structure dimensions and ditch geometry will be measured using a hand leve~
surveyors rod, and cloth tape.

For the Lilylands Canal, the maximum capacity of the canal immediately downstream of

Lilylands Reservoir and at the bifurcation point into the North and South Laterals will be

estimated. Canal C'lpacities will be estimat(:d from hydraulic calculations using canal geometry

4
