Project Area

The Fruitland Mesa Project area is located in Delta and Montrose

Counties having irrigated land located within Crystal Creek and Iron

Creek valle)"! and on the Fruitland Mesa. The area is generally

bordered by the Gunnison River on the south and west, Black Mesa on

the east, and Smith Fork on the north. The prominant features of the

area are the Fruitland Mesa and the Black Mesa.

The dam, reservoir, most of the major diversion structures, and

the irrigation areas are accessible within short distances from

Colorado highway 92. The Gould Reservoir is about eight miles south

of the town of Crawford, located on the western side of the highway.

The location map of the project area is given in Figure 1.
