~

PROJECT SUMMARY

~

The proposed Stagecoach Reservoir will be located on the

Yampa River about 17 1/2 miles south of Steamboat Springs in Routt

~

County, Colorado. The Project provides a unique opportunity to

develop, at low cost, a supply of stored water for existing and

~

future municipal and industrial growth, in addition to providing

increased supplies of supplemental irrigation water in the area

served by the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District (District).

.

The Project will develop a 33,720 acre-foot reservoir, of which

3,500 acre-feet will be inactive storage. The reservoir will have

.

a surface area of approximately 780 acres at the normal maximum

water surface elevation of 7,200 feet.

The 33,720 acre-foot capacity reservoir has been sized to

.

utilize, to the fullest extent possible, the land and water rights

available from Colorado-Ute Electric Association, Inc. Three

different project sizes have been investigated to determine the

.

optimum project size for the given site and right-of-way limita-

tions. The results of that investigation showed that the 33,720

-
...

acre-foo~ project would cost $331 per acre-foot, a smaller 25,500

acre-foot reservoir would cost $404 per acre-foot and an 18,500

acre-foot reservoir would cost $508 per acre-foot to develop.

-'

vii
