NOV 16 1979 I
" '
;.:'--., ------ , j
lvL" \'" '
." ~ , i
cor',bERVi'\(;0ii (",,,,,,,,0
The Town of Silt is projected to increase in population
from a present population of 1200 to a population of 2830
in the year 2000. Annual water demand is projected to
increase from a present annual demand of 94.61 million
gallons to a annual demand of 223.l2 million gallons in
the year 2000.

SUMMARY
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

CONCLUSIONS

2. The Town of Silt does not have adequate water rights.

3. The Town of Silt's primary existing water supply source,
infiltration galleries in an island in the Colorado River,
has deteriorated and is inadequate hydraulically.

4. The existing clearwell, chlorination and pumping station
have deteriorated, are structurally unsound and are not
hydraulically functional.

5. The Town does not meter services and this has lead to
excessive consumption of water.

6. Much of the existing distribution system is failing and
causing numerous leaks. This increases consumption and
necessitates expensive repairs.

7. The existmg distribution system is composed of pipe
sizes too small for adequate fire protection flows.

r

8. Two of the existing water storage tanks are structurally
unsound. All three existing storage tanks are at too low
an elevation to provide adequate pressure to meet health
and fire protection standards.
