<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />SECTION 02219 <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2.01 <br /> <br />EMBANKMENT MATERIAL <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />The earthfill portion of the dam embankment shall <br />of materials available from the borrow area. The <br />of the borrow area is shown on the drawings. <br /> <br />consist <br />location <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />B. Contractor <br />must assume all responsibility for conclusions concerning <br />the total yield of suitable materials, difficulty of <br />excavation, removing oversi~e material, and obtaining <br />proper moisture content of .uitable embankment material. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />D. Cobbles and rock fragments naving maximum dimensions of <br />more that 4-inches shall not be placed in the embankment. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PART ~ - EXECUTION <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3.01 PLACING EMBANKMENT MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. General <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1. The suitabliltiy of each part of the foundation for placing <br />embankment materials thereon, and of all materials for use in <br />embankment construction, will be determined by the Engineer. No <br />embankment material shall be placed in the embankment when either <br />the material or the foundation or embankment on which it would <br />be placed is frozen. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />2. No brush, roots, sod, or other perishable or unsuitable <br />materials shall be placed in the embankment. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3. Each load of the material placed in the embankment, whether <br />from excavation for other parts of the work or from borrow pits, <br />shall be placed in the location designated by the Engineer, and <br />the Contractor shall be entitled to no additional allowance <br />above the unit prices bid in the schedule on account of this <br />requirement. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />4. In any separate portion of dam embankment being constructed, <br />each layer of each zone shall be constructed continuously and <br />approximately horizontal for the width and length of such <br />portion at the elevation of the layer. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />5. The Contractor shall maintain the embankment in an approved <br /> <br />35 <br />
