Land Ownership
supplemental irrigation water vary depending on the priority of
direct flow rights servicing the land and the number of shares
of stock owned in existing reservoirs, Yamcolo water will be
conveyed to random tracts in the Yampa-Toponas area which are
currently in short supply. In general, water will be used on
the same tracts each year and will not be used on more than 160
acres in any single ownership or 320 acres in joint ownership
of husband and wife. Figure 2 shows the boundary of the area
where project water will be used. It does not attempt to show
the individual tracts to which the water will be applied. Total
lands within the boundary shown presently receiving irrigation
water amount to approximately 13,000 acres and 2,000 acres of
arable land. The major portion of the lands within the service
area upon which project water will be applied are distributed
as shown in the following table:
Table 10
Distribtuion of Land Ownership
Individual
Ranch Size
(Acres Presently Irriqated)
Less than 100 Acres
100 to 200 Acres
200 to 320 Acres
Over 320 Acres
TOTALS
Total Acres
Irrigated Arable
190 510
1,180 370
1,850 160
3,510 270
6,730 ' 1,310
Grazing
2,610
6,330
2,720
12,830
24,490
'
'
'
'
'
'
'
!'
'
'
t
' I
III - 12
1
,
 '
