Of this amount, 58,259 people were residents of the City. The
remaining service area includes supplying the communities of Evans, Garden
City, Roseda1e, Arrowhead, and Hill 'N Park.

The water use projections for Greeley's service area are based upon a
historical average domestic consumption rate of 240 gallons per capita per day
(gpcd) for the service area, and population projections from the 1986 City of
Greeley Planning Department Comprehensive Growth Study. Population
projections for the City from 1986 through 2015 are shown on Figure IV.l. An
additional 9,255 people, external to the City, were also served in 1986.

The anti ci pated usage in the year 2015 is expected to serve a popul ati on of
94,215 people annually, requiring 8,253 million gallons per year, as well as
supply Hewl ett-Packard, Eastman Kodak, the Ci ty of Evans, and others with
4,365 mi 11 i on gall ons per year. Informati on contai ned in the February, 1985
report by James M. Montgomery, Consulti ng Engi neers, Inc. enti t1 ed, "Boyd Lake
P1 ants Raw Water Supply and Treatment Study", was used to establ i sh future
water demands outside the City. Table IV.l shows the average daily and annual
demands from 1980 to 2015. Data from 1980 to 1986 are historical usage
figures. Figure IV.2 graphically displays the projected annual water usage.

Annual water use was 7,311 million gallons in 1986.
for the year 2015 annual consumpti on is expected to
12,618 million gallons. This means the average daily
from 20.0 million gallons to 34.6 million gallons.

At the projected levels
i nc rease 73 percent to
water use will increase

Barnes Meadow Reservoir primarily provides water to the City during the winter
months from November through March each year. Wi nter water demands have
increased almost every year since 1980. Table IV.2 presents the City's

1231 H

-17-
