['
,
,

Exhibit A
Grant for Proposed Feasibility Study of Long Hollow Reservoir and Red Mesa Reservoir Enlargement

.

.

r

r'~
!

Study Objective

The objective of this study is to investigate the technical, financial and institutional
aspects of a limited number of alternative darn and reservoir configurations to increase
the Reservoir's capacity to approximately 4,000 AF. The need for enlargement of this
facility was established in previous studies (Western La Plata County Water Management
and Conservation Plan, Red Mesa Reservoir Enlargement: Feasibility Study).
Enlargement of the Reservoir will improve the currently inadequate water supplies in the
basin, particularly if the enlargement is constructed as part of a plan that also includes
Long Hollow Darn and Reservoir. Before the Long Hollow Reservoir is constructed,
enlargement of the Red Mesa Reservoir could help to improve La Plata River Compact
administration.

L.
i..::..

p.','.
[:;

1.:,.
~..,

f
f.',

The objective and scope of the study are based on:

.
