Cultural Resources
The Colorado Historical Society, Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation
(OAHP) maintains a statewide Inventory of Cultural Resources, This information
may be accessed through a data base and by using township, range, and section
information for a given study area, This information may be further refined by
providing the OAHP with detailed mapping showing the location of proposed
facilities.
A data base search was performed for Fort Lupton's master planning area in
September 1993 after providing the OAHP with township and range information. An
archaeological survey of the land within the master planning area to be impacted by
the surface water project was conducted in October 1993. No impacts were identified
during the study.
The OAHP does not have complete information on surveys conducted in
Colorado, and their site files cannot be considered complete because most of the
State has not heen surveyed for cultural resources. There is the possibility that
as-yet-identified cultural resources exist within the master planning area,

C. Growth Areas and Population Trends
The following discussion summarizes the current and projected growth areas and
population trends for the City,

1. Growth Areas
Growth in the City has historically and generally developed between State
Highway 8S to the west, the Union Pacific Railroad to the east, State Highway S2 to
the south, and 14th Street to the north, Residential development has expanded to
the east of the railroad and also to the south of State Highway S2 along State
Highway 8S.
Shown on Figure 2-S are areas where growth and development is projected to
occur during the next 20 years. The projected growth areas are based on the goals
and policies of City planning and zoning leaders.

2. Population Trends
Historical population growth data for the City is contained in the July 1974
Preliminary Engineering Report - Wastewater Treatment Improvements - City of
Fort Lupton, Colorado, prepared by Nelson, Haley, Patterson, and Quirk, Inc.; the

25325,100; 12107/94

2-5
