II.

l

1
J

.

.

It is assumed that much of the information regarding
water rights, financial data, and organization of the
reservoir company will be provided by yourself. It is
also assumed that you can provide information on names,
location, and acreage of shareholders.

DESCRIPTION OF THE RENOVATION PROJECT

The repairs required to Rapid Creek Reservoir HI and H2
are outlined in a letter dated September 30, 1987 from
the State Engineer's Office to Coon Creek Reservoir
Company. Briefly, the major components of the dam which
have deficiencies are as follows:

Ranid Creek J!..l1..

1. The spillway may be of insufficient size.

2. The outlet works is inoperable.~

3. The upstream slope has suffered extensive erosion
from wind and wave action, primarily from lack of
riprap.

4. Seepage is present below the downstream slope. In
addition, this slope apparently is relatively steep,
and may be prone to slipping.

~ Will be repaired this summer.

Rani d Creek 1Ll.1..

1. The spillway may be inadequate.

2. Repair work to the upstream slope, which apparently
consisted of dumped backfill material, may be
inadequate.

3. There may be seepage on the downstream embankment.

Because of these problems, the State Engineer has
restricted the reservoirs to a water level 6 ft. below
the lowest point of each dam's crest. This is
apparently approximately 2 ft. below the spillway on the
two reservoirs.

2
