'frStf?:?

.

.

/

CRITIQUE (1989) OF THE CONDITION OF MONUMENT ~ELL NO. 2

1. It has been experiencing a decline in production rate and
stoppage due to sand blockage; therefore, the pump in this well was
recently pulled.

2. Before the pump could be extracted from the well, the pump
broke at a bowl section and the pump and motor assembly fell to the
bottom of the well.

3. The well was surveyed using a TV camera provided by AmWest.

4. The TV camera survey indicates that the screen in this well is
heavily encrusted throughout the length of the well. Cloudy water
encountered in the lower portion of the well may be indicative of
this portion of the well being totally plugged, with no water flow
in this section.

5. This well has historically been a chronic sand producer with
pumps having to be replaced approximately every three years.

Given this information and the fact that Monument Well No.2 is not
gravel packed, we feel that this well will continue to produce sand
even after efforts to rehabilitate it. since any well rehabili-
tation effort will not affect sand pumpage, continuing sand
production from this well will result in recurring costs to replace
the pump and other appurtenant equipment which are deteriorated by
sand pumpage, e.g., valves, booster pumps, pump house piping, etc.
Maintenance at the existing well has turned out to be a consistent
and expensive undertaking. .

1990 COST TO REPAIR WELL

Replace Pump and Motor

$ 7,000.00

AmWest charge in 1990 to pull and reset
Replace pipe 1,000 ft.--50 sections

8,781.20

Total

2.000.00
$17,781. 20
