Briefly describe the purpose, location and need for the project:

The .State Engineers' Office and the applicant's engineer have deter-
mined that the south outlet tunnel located along Colorado Avenue, Loveland,
Colorado, and its outlet gates for Lake Loveland reservoir are in poor
condition. There has been progressive erosion of the outlet tunnel and
gate structure over the past 80 years. The south outlet tunnel facility
of Lake Loveland is to be repaired and improved to allow the lake to dis-
charge in emergencies, supplement the north outlet gates in supplying
irrigation water to its users, and for draining the lake for maintenance
and repair. In addition, presently there is no spillway for Lake Loveland
and the south outlet tunnel is one of two ways that water can be lowered
from the reservoir, The erosion of the outlet tunnel and gate structures
has. become significant and warrants rehabilitation.

.
