Mr. King stated City Engineer <br />Paul Gilbert feels the project can be corrpleted this year. Mr. King stated <br />the City will have to pay for eachproject and the state will then reimburse the <br />City 50% of the cost. Mr. King stated the area between Little Switzerland and <br />the highway is zoned Hillside low I:ensity and the City Planner will be calculating <br />the rraxirm,nn number of houses that could be builtin that area. Concerning the <br />Ruxton Avenue Project, Mr. King stated Mr. Gilbert believes 2 or 3 houses on the <br />upper end of Ruxton Avenue will not have adequate water pressure after the Ruxton <br />line is conpleted and those water customers are switched over to the main water <br />system. Mr. King stated the Ruxton line up to the Cog I:eJ:Ot will be conpleted <br />and then it will be detennined if there actually will be a pressure problem. Mr. <br />King stated a purrp station could be installed if necessary and Mr. Gilbert estimates <br />the cost would be $15,000 to $20,000. The purrp station =uld provide fire pro- <br />tection and adequate household water for other water users as well. <br /> <br />CouncilJran Koerner suggested maybe the Health I:epartIrent =uld approve leaving <br />the 2 or 3 houses on the old Ruxton system since there are 50 few. <br /> <br />Mr. King stated the Health I:epartIrent is interested in everyone receiving <br />filtered water and they are not concerned with the pressure of the water. Mr. <br />King stated Mr. Gilbert believes the water pressure on Ruxton Avenue will be <br />much lower than the pressure presently in that area. <br /> <br />CouncilJran Koerner asked if the cost of the Canon Avenue line will be assessed <br />to the owners of the undeveloped property in that area when their land is <br />developed because the City will be installing a larger line than is presently <br />necessary in anticipation that those lots may be developed SaTl2 day. Councilnan <br />Koerner stated similar assessments have been made in the past. <br /> <br />Mr. King stated the difference in cost between an 8 inch line and a 6 inch line <br />is only $3 per foot. <br /> <br />M3.yor Lewis stated the impact on the entire water system should be considered <br />when a new developrrent <pes in and that is what the tap fee is suppose to be for. <br /> <br />Mr. King stated Qn estimate of the projects to the state will include$60,000 for <br />Canon Avenue, $20,000 reserve for Ruxton Avenue, $60,000 for upgrading valves, <br />and the rem'l.inder of the rroney will be used for inprovements listed in both the <br />Beck Study and the Capital Improverrent Plan including replacement of the line <br />in the Plainview/Terrace Place area and the Minnehaha line. Mr. King stated <br />the priorities will have to be finalized later. <br /> <br />Councilmn Pritchard was ooncerned about the Washington Avenue loop as the City <br />M3.nager told the Council earlier it would be conpleted this year. <br /> <br />Mr. King stated the Washington Avenue loop will be corrpleted in-house, hcwever, <br />he was not sure of the scheduling for the project. Mr. King stated the Pawnee <br />Avenue Project is now oonpleted and being paved. <br />
