<br />2.2.4 DISTRICT IDSTORY <br /> <br />The District was formed to consolidate, facilitate, and meet the water planning requirements of a <br />major portion of Archuleta County. It incorporates municipal, industrial, and irrigation water needs, <br />and encourages the conservation of water resources within its boundaries. <br /> <br />2.2.5 GEOGRAPIDC AREA SERVED <br /> <br />The SJWCD encompasses approximately 70,000 acres in the central portions of Archuleta County, <br />and within the drainage basins of the San Juan and Piedra Rivers.
