This cost
estimate includes construction costs; engineering design and permitting; legal; and
bidding, contract administration and construction inspection. Also included are a
contingency for construction cost uncertainties, and escalation factors for the costs to
be incurred in the summer and fall of 2001. It is noted that the project construction will
be limited to available funding, with the final limits of the repair determined by the
actual project construction bid.

I

I

I
I
I
I

Proiect Scope

I

The project costs for complete repair of the dam slope with soil cement (Options
4-4 and 4-1) are expected to exceed project funding. It is proposed that the project
scope be limited to just account for all the available funding by utilizing Option 4-6. The
project scope would' be limited by constructing the soil cement to a minimum elevation
of gage height 36.5, the base of the parapet wall. This elevation is approximately 9.5
feet above the winter storage level of 27.0, and 6.5 feet above the maximum normal
storage level of 30.0. The projected top-of-soil cement height is 4.0 feet below the
desired dam top (parapet wall) height of 40.5. Because of funding limitations, the
parapet wall and approximately 3,500 feet of dam' facing would not be repaired. The
repair length is projected to extend from station 1 + 00 West (100 feet west of the
outlet works) to 80+00 East (8,000 feet east of the outlet), for a total repair surface
length of 8,100 feet. The stationing will cover areas of historic sink hole locations and
areas of overall concern. The western section of the dam facing, west of the outlet

I
I I
I
I

38
