It is proposed to repair the entire
upstream face of the dam; however, funding shortfalls may limit the actual repair to the
critical areas of the dam. The alternatives evaluated included the following:
1) Do Nothing.
2) Continue Current Practice of Limited Slab Replacement.
3) Improved Program of Slab Replacement.
4) Resurface the Upstream Slope with a Soil Cement Overlay.
5) Beach the Upstream Slope and Armor.
6) Flatten the Upstream Slope to 2(H):1 (VI and Armor against Wave Action.

Options 4, 5 and 6 include several sub-alternatives, using the basic concept with
modified design details. These Include:
4-4) Resurface with Soil Cement to Elevation 40.5
4-1) Resurface with Soil Cement to Elevation 36.5
4-6) Resurface with Soil Cement to Elevation 36.5, Limited Length
5A) Beach the Upstream Slope at a 10(H):1 (V) Slope and Armor with Gravel.
5B) Beach the Upstream Slope at a 5(H):1 (VI Slope and Armor with Soil Cement.
6A) Flatten the Upstream Slope and Armor with New Concrete Slabs.
6B) Flatten the Upstream Slope and Armor with Riprap.

A short description of the major components for these alternatives is presented
in the following sections, along with a discussion of design, maintenance, and
institutional issues.

Option 1 - Do Nothing
Do not perform any repair work on the facing. No construction will be involved,
including no maintenance upkeep for the existing concrete facing.

24
