,.-'

.~

.

.

PART 2

The following requirements contained in the Guidelines appear not
appropriate for the irrigation structures rehabilitation feasibility study of
Redlands and are proposed to be deleted from the study to be performed by
Western Engineers, Inc,

1. Solicitation of consideration by outside agencies and collection of reports
and comments by those agencies (Requirement Part A, Paragraph 3). No funds
are included for this work.

2. Lands Classification will not be done, as lands included are presently
irrigated.

3. Land Uses - Since crops can change, a land use tabulation by crops seems
inappropriate and will not be done nor will yields of crops be provided.
This is inappropriate as the majority of uses of irrigation water are for
irrigation of suburban developments in the area.

4. Western will not change or duplicate the basic design of the irrigation
system. The design, including sizes and hydraulic conditions, will remain
as it exists for pumps, pump discharge pipelines, canals, and siphon
structures. A new design will be provided only where a change in method is
proposed; as: a siphon structure is to replace an existing flume
structure.

5. Where geotechnic engineering of existing structures has provided adequate
by long service, and rehabilitation provides for renewal/replacement of the
structure, no additional geotechnical investigations will be done. Where a
reroute of the canal is proposed, geotechnical investigations of the reach
of canal rerouted will be done. Geotechnical investigations required for
design will not be done during feasibility stages, but will be delayed
until final design to assure that the route is designated for use. No
required funds are included for geotechnical work during the feasibility
investigation.

6. Floods along the Gunnison River and from the Monument area are not
considered hazard" to the irrigation system and no flood studies will be
undertaken and no funds are required for such studies.

Paragraphs 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 14 are not applicable or have been
previously set by initial design and are proposed not to be changed. No
further work is proposed to be done.

e. Drainage - No drainage studies are anticipated to be done and no funds are
required.

f. Sedimentation - No sedimentation studies will be done and no funds are
required therefore

g. Rights-of-way, except for proposed reroute in Limekiln Gulch.

-7-
