Water Demands

The purpose of this project is strictly limited in scope to the rehabilitation of outlet works. No
additional water supplies will be developed in connection with this project. No new or increased
diversions will be made and no additional storage capacities will be created at Horseshoe Reservoir. The
uses of the water will not change as a result of this proj ect. This proj ect will not increase the
Companies' water supply.

C. Project Lands

Greeley and Loveland Irrigation system will not change as a result of this project. This project

will not broaden the Companys' service area and will not provide for the irrigation of any new lands.

D. Water Rights

There are two points of diversion for the Greeley and Loveland Irrigation system which include
the Big Bames Ditch and Loveland and Greeley Canal. The Big Barnes Ditch diverts water from the
Big Thompson River into Lake Loveland as shown on Figure III-1. Tlie water is then conveyed into
Horseshoe Reservoir by Lake Loveland's north outlet. The water is then regulated into Boyd Lake or
into Heinricy Lake. The water is then regulated into Boyd Lake once again or into Upper and Lower
Hoffman Lakes. Westerdoll Lake presently collects local drainage and the water is then regulated into
Upper and Lower Hoffman Lakes. The water is then regulated into the Greeley and Loveland Canal at
Hubbs Check. The water is then conveyed via Greeley and Loveland Canal into Equalizer Reservoir.
Equalizer Reservoir regulates the water in the Greeley and Loveland Canal system for agricultural use
east of Loveland.

Horseshoe Dam No.2 Outlet Works Study

13

BOYLE
