I

I
I
I

CHAPTER III
WATER

Water requirements

I

Tbe water requirements of tbe proposed Morgan County Quality Water
District can be most accurately estimated using data from existing districts
serving comparable areas. Districts in tbe Soutb Platte River Basin similar
to tbe proposed Morgan County District include tbe NorL Weld County Water
District, tbe Central Weld County Water District, the East Larimer County
Water District and tbe Fort Collins-Loveland Water District. Water use
data from these districts, plus the Woodmen Water and Sanitation District
near Colorado Springs, are summarized in Table 1.

I

I
I

Tbe average montbly water use per tap in tbe four northeastern Colorado

districts listed in Table 1 is 27,375 gallons. It is expected tbat lawn

irrigation in tbe proposed Morgan County District will continue to be

supplied from existing wells, wbereas wells are not available to many

users in tbe otber nortbeastern Colorado districts. Tbe water use in tbe

proposed Morgan County District can, tberefore, be expected to be less per

tap than the otber districts witb the exception of the Woodmen District

where irrigation is minimal. Based upon comparison with the otber water

districts, it is believed tbat an average monthly per-tap use of 20,000

gallons is appropriate for tbe Morgan County District. Table 2 sets forth

tbe estimated annual water requirements, assuming an initial bookup of 1500

taps and an increase to 1990 by tbe 20th year of operation.

I

I
I

I

I

Table 1.
