The location of the land irrigated by
Reservoir No.2 may generally be described as Section 4, the
East half of Section 5, the East half of Section 8, Section
9, the West half of Section 10, Section 15, and the North
half of Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 68 West; and, the
East half of the North half of Section 22, Township 7 North,
Range 68 West. This area comprises approximately 3,400 acres
which is in general served by Reservoir No.2. (Refer to
Appendix A for location map).

The purpose of the proposed rehabilitation is to enable
the Irrigation Company to continue to serve lands which are
presently irrigated. Land Classification per se is therefore
not required. Nevertheless, the Soil Survey of Larimer
County Area, Colorado, published by USDA!SCS and Forest
Service in cooperation with the Colorado Agricultural
Experiment Station, was consulted and is summarized as
follows for the land served by No.2.

The SCS
Classes II,
of class IV.
class III to

"Capability Classes" for this area are mostly
and III, for irrigated lands with some instances
Without irrigation, most of the land is in the
class IV category.

These classes are
publication as follows:

described in the SCS-Soil Survey

Class II soils have moderate limitations that reduce the
choice of plants or that require moderate conservation
practices. The distribution of this class of soils is
approximately 65% of the total acreage served by
Reservoir No.2.

Class III soils have severe limitations that reduce the
choice of plants, require special conservation practic-
es, or both. The distribution of these soils is approx-
imately 20% of the total acreage served by Reservoir No.
2.

Class IV soils have very severe
the choice of plants, require
or both. The distribution of
mately 15% of the total acreage

limitations
very careful
these soils
around Clark

that reduce
management,
is approxi-
Lake.

There
area;
Table
their
soils

are seventeen (17) soils series in the service
five (5) of which cover the majority of this area.
1II-1, included herein, lists these groups and
general descriptions and capability classes.
