.

.

,~ ~ ~

McLaughlin Water Engineers
Scope of Work for the
Southern High Plains Groundwater Management District
Phase II Study
(July 1, 2001)

Phase-II is scheduled to begin after July 1. 2001, pending available funding from the
Colorado Water Conservation Board, The amount of funding is estimated to be $65,000,
A portion of these funds could be used to initiate several tasks previously identified by
MWE in its Phase I Report. These tasks are briefly described below:

1, Obtain additional well logs within the District, incorporate information from these
logs into the Arc View data base developed in the Phase I study to identify the
degrees of hydraulic communication among the three primary aquifer systems so
additional management criteria can be considered for the District;

2, Obtain. and utilize other available logs including drilling logs from oil and gas
wells in the area, and the core sample obtained by the Kansas Geologic Survey
in southwestern Kansas;

Deliverables:

1. Provide a map of the Southern High Plains Groundwater Management District
within which multiple aquifer administration is warranted by virtue of hydraulic
separation because of lessening of the confining layer or well construction,

2, Within the "multiple aquifer area" determine the total recoverable water from
multiple aquifer units and prepare a map of recoverable saturation within the
multiple aq uifer area,

3, Prepare a report that discusses the findings from developing the map in
Deliverable No, 1, The report also will discuss the process used to estimate the
total recoverable water within the aquifer units, the remaining recoverable
saturation in Deliverable No, 2, and management options available for those
areas,

ApPENDIX 2 TO CONTRACT C150068
