/

woodward-CIA

.

WCC performed investigations to establish design criteria to remediate seepage in the
area of the existing outlet works and to increase the size of the spillway to accommodate
75 percent of the Probable Maximum Flood. The fast track project required the field
investigation, feasibility study, design, review, and construction to be completed in six
months, WCC assisted the Windsor Reservoir and Canal Company in obtaining
financing for the project from the Colorado Water Conservation Board. WCC also
provided cost estimates for the rehabilitation of the spillway and embankment and
provided construction observation and management services during the rehabilitation of
the dam and spillway.

Kemmerer City Dam, Wyoming - A landslide threatened the access road to a major
regional recreational area surrounding the lake. In conjunction with design and
construction of other improvements to the dam, the landslide was stabilized by unloading
the crest, constructing drains under the highway to redirect groundwater, and improving
surface drainage, WCC provided services including investigation; preparation of designs,
specifications and cost estimates; and construction engineering.

Grand River Interceptor Ditch, Colorado - This interceptor ditch in Rocky Mountain
National Park diverts water to the east slope for irrigation. The ditch is about 100 years
old and pre-dates the National Park. In late spring of 1992 a landslide occurred along
a portion of this ditch blocking access to upstream portions of the project. A geologic
reconnaissance concluded that the landslide was largely confined to overburden soils
which overlie a steep bedrock surface. Recommendations were made relative to
stabilizing the slide and to retard slide debris from continuously ravelling down onto the
maintenance road.

Telluride Airport, Colorado - WCC investigated the failure mechanism and the cause of
failure for the landslide which took out a portion of the runway fill, closed the state
highway to Telluride, and buried a sand and gravel plant in the river valley bottom, Air
travel to the town was restricted until the slide area was stabilized,

Hourglass Reservoir, Larimer County, Colorado - WCC conducted a feasibility level
geotechnical study for rehabilitating the city of Greeley's Hourglass Dam, A field
reconnaissance was made of the condition of the embankment and local geologic
Woodward~Clyde Consultants

233601PR0.3 12-08-93(8:53am)/RPT

3-7
