.

.

Persons and Entities to be Contacted (continued):

Colorado River Water Conservation District
Southwestern Water Conservation District
Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District
Rio Grande Water Conservation District
Other Conservancy Districts and Irrigation Districts
As Many Cities and Towns as possible
As Many Irrigation Companies as possible
Engineering Firms who have been involved in dams
Referrals from the above entities

Mr. Harris will call each of the above organizations to determine
if the entity has or can suggest some else to be contacted, who has
a potential dam project. There will be three key criteria for
preliminary evaluation of potential sites, which are:
(1) is there a dam site?, (2) is there a water supply?, and (3) is
there a need for the water? At this stage of the study, any sites
that meet one of the three criteria will be considered.

The result of this task will be one page summaries of each
potential dam site. There should be between 50 and 100 sites. The
one page summaries will include the following general information,
to the extent possible:

* Entity Name, address, phone, contact person

* Location of Dam (Township, Range, Section, USGS Quad
Map name, stream name, etc.), available information on
dam (height, storage capacity, geology, etc.), listing of
available reports and engineering studies

* Source of Water Supply (stream, water rights, gage
records), listing of available information on water
supply from reports and engineering studies,
environmental issues regrading instream flow and
endangered species will be noted if applicable

* Need for Water (municipal, irrigation, recreation,
etc.), listing of entities needing water with any
quantification of needs, when the water is needed if not
immediately, very rough idea of ability to pay

HWE will rank the potential dam sites identified in the canvasing,
into: "good" sites, "average" sites, and "poor" sites; the rankings
will then be reviewed by the CWCB staff. Further, HWE will meet
with the CWCB staff to finalize the rankings before proceeding the
Task 2.

2
