The cost of storage appears to level off
for the middle and upper capaci ty earth dams. In general, storage
cos ts are about average in comparison to the other dam si tes con-
sidered in this study.

I
I
I

E. East Divide Creek Dam and Reservoir

1. General History

The possibility of placing water storage facilities on East
Divide Creek has not been studied in detail in previous water supply
studies of the project area.

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

The East Divide Creek Basin has a total drainage area of
approximately 50 square miles. The basin rises from an elevation of
6000 feet at its confluence with West Divide Creek to 10,500 feet in
the upper basin. The average slope of the stream channel is approxi-
mately 6%. The irrigated acreage directly supported by runoff from
the basin is about 1950 acres.

Several sites were chosen during the initial phases of the
study as potential locations for a dam and reservoir. A site very
near the USGS streamflow gauging station was selected as it appears to
be the least costly of the various sites studied, see Figures 1-1 and
1II-2. At this location, the dam would be able to capture the runoff
from 40.8 square miles, or about 80% of the total basin area. The
average annual streamflow at the site is about 9500 acre-feet per
year.

2.
