Quantities and Cost Estimates

Using the layouts of each dam and the appurtenant structures,
quantities for the major cost items were established. These were
tabulated with the unit costs described in Section IV, A, 5 and are
presented, in detail, in Appendix D. The resulting total costs and
costs per unit of storage provided are summarized below:

COST SUMMARY
UPPER KENDIG DAMS
TYPE STORAGE TOTAL COST UNIT STORAGE COST
(ac-ft) ($1,000) ($/ac-ft)
Earth 6,100 14,741 2,420
Earth 13,900 29,734 2,140
Earth 18,300 33,178 1,820
RCC 6,100 12,332 2,030
RCC 13,900 35,087 2,530
RCC 18,300 43,605 2,390

COST SUMMARY
LOWER KENDIG DAMS
TYPE STORAGE TOTAL COST UNIT STORAGE COST
(ac-ft) ($1,000) ($ / ac-ft)
Earth 11,000 12,414 1,130
Earth 18,000 20,479 1,140
Earth 25,000 22,479 900
RCC 11 , 000 22,053 2,010
RCC 18,000 31,004 1,720
RCC 25,000 38,211 1,530

These costs include costs for relocation of the natural gss
pipeline and a county road which would be required at the Lower Kendig
site. The USBR (Ref. 43) estimated that the cost for relocation of
the gas line and the county road would be $580,000 (1980 dollars).
Adjusting this for inflation during five years 1980 through 1985, the
current cost is estimated to be $730,000.

IV-10
