This alternative would replace the existing

structures with a concrete diversion dam and steel diversion dam. It would

involve the use of a 30-foot pneumatic spillway gate and an 8-foot radial sluice

gate for sand removal. Also a 30-foot pneumatic headgate would be installed

with automatic controls to provide for precise ditch flow control. The total project
cost as proposed is $ 785,630,00 as shown in the Construction Cost Estimate
in Appendix I. This alternative is referred to as Referendum (A) on the ballot in
Appendix F,

2) To replace the east diversion and headgate structure with a new 200-foot

structure, This alternative would replace the existing 300-foot structure with a

new one which is perpendicular to the river channel. It would involve the use of

two 30-foot pneumatic gates and an 8-foot radial gate as discussed above in
alternative (1), The total project cost as proposed is $ 680,625,00 as shown in
the Construction Cost Estimate In Appendix I. This alternative is referred to as
Referendum (B) on the ballot in Appendix F. This alternative will also include a
sand dam to be installed by the District to control the flow of water in the south
channel. It will replace the West Diversion Dam which was heavily damaged by
flooding last year. The elevation of the sand dam will be such that it will divert
3
