.

.

Agenda Item 14a. (Updated July 21, 1997)
July 21, 1997

Because of the wide ranging benefits of the feasibility study, and the potential project, several
entities are participating and have already committed $20,791. Other participants include the
Lower South Platte Water Conservancy District, Ground Water Appropriators of the South Platte
(GASP), the Platte River Project, and the South Platte Lower River Group (SPLRG,) (SPLRG
will contribute its own funds, separate from the $75K CWCB grant designated for groundwater
demonstration projects,)

It would cost more than $20 million to enlarge the Julesburg Reservoir so that it would hold an
additional 10,000 acre feet. Clearly the project, if built, will need to be a cooperative effort of
many interests on the South Platte,

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

The staff recommends a Small Dam Site grant of $5,000, not to exceed 20% of the total
study costs, to the Julesburg Irrigation District for a feasibility study to evaluate additional
storage within the Julesburg Irrigation system.

Action Taken bv the CWCB, Julv 21. 1997

The CWCB approved the Staff Recommendation..

Attachments

C:\wp51 \PRO-NEW\14a.jul

~

,

2
