I
I
I
II

This is mainly the Lincoln Park and Prospect Heights areas. Then consideration

would be given to providing service to the areas that will be developed or

expanded over the next 20 years. !mprovements will be recommended regardless

of whether they are inside or outside of the present Canon City limits. The

purpose of this study is to develo~ a system that is capable of serving Canon

City and the surrounding area. Cost estimates as shown in Section 6 for

proposed .improvements are broken down by area served.

II
II
II
[I
II
II
II
II
II
~
rl
[ .11
f-II

..

The proposed major loops and storage to serve the existing area and areas that

will develop are shown in Exhibit No.9. A Hardy Cross pressure analysis

was run on this system based on 1993 peak hour flows (with two exceptions

discussed below). The residual preSsures on the proposed network at 1993

peak hour flows are also shown on E~hibit No.8.

There are three areas of development in the planning stages that will be

above the elevation that can be adequately served by gravity with the proposed

system as shown in Exhibit No.8. :rhese areas are the Skyline Village and

a portion of the Morningside Subdiv~sion in the northwest part of the area and

the Canon Chemical Development in t~e southwest part of the area. The Canon

Chemical Development presently has ~ pump station and .3 mg tank in operation

as shown in Exhibit No.9. To serve these areas in 1993 a pump station and

storage would be required to serve ~he Skyline Village and upper portion of

the Morningside Subdivision. The e~isting pump station and storage at

Canon Chemical would also have to be expanded.

For the pressure analysis of the proposed network as shown in Exhibit No. 8

1993 peak hour flows were assumed on the total system except at the two points

that would feed Canon Chemical and Skyline Village. At these points maximum

day demand was withdrawn. This was done because it was assumed that each of

these areas would have sufficient storage to provide equalization flows. By

examining the proposed pressures it can be seen that all areas of the City

have residual pressures above the 40 psi minimum.

Staged Construction Program for Distribution System Improvements.

1

The following is a discussion of the proposed method of staging the construction

of the proposed improvements in the distribution system. Exhibit No.9 shows

these stages of construction.

...

I.

5-2
