II II II II I II I II II II II II I I I II I I - East Canon Lincoln Park 1960 1101 2085 Population 1970 1805 2984 These Census Bureau figures indica~e a growth rate from 1960 to 1970 of 63.9% for East Canon and 43.1% for Lincoln Park. These percentage growth rates indicate that the areas around Canon City are growing much more rapidly than Canon City itself as would be expected. Exhibit No.2 shows areas of probable future development most of which lie outside the City. There are several areas of development that are presently in the planning stages that will increase the population of the area substantially when they are completely developed; Exhibit No. 2 shows those areas. It has been assumed that Canon City will continue to supply water to the areas it presently serves as well as serve areas such as these below that will be developed on the periphery of Canon City. The following table reflects the approximate projected population of these. areas assuming they are completely developed: Development Canon Chemical Skyline Village *Morningside Four Mile *Fairpark *Inside City Limits Projected Population 6400 1580 1050 400 240 Examining the records of the Colorado Southern Power Division also indicates a high growth rate for the areas outside Canon City. For the period 1962 to 1972 residential customer accounts for tne area outside Canon City increased from 1667 to 2552, an increase of 53%. As was the case with Canon City, there was a marked increase in growth rate over the past 4 years. Customer accounts increased from 2045 in 1968 to 2552 in 1972, an increase of 24.8% in a four year period which is equivalent to a 10 year growth rate of 62.0%. 1-5
