.

FOREWORD

In the accompanying report general background information on the
Juniper project area is presented in Chapter I. Chapter II describes
an engineering and economic appraisal of a comprehensive development
plan in Colorado and Utah for irrigation along with cor~elated power,
recreation. and fish and wildlife developments. Irrigation in this plan
is provided for 100,000 acres, the maximum area of land shown as arable
in the reconnaissance studies. The comprehensive project would be well
adapted to development in stages, and Chapter III presents a plan for
initial development only in Colorado for the purposes of irrigation.
power, fish and wildlife, and recreation, with irrigation limited to about
9,000 acres. In Chapter IV comparative appraisals are given of the plans
in Chapters II and III along with appraisals of three other less favorable
plans considered in the studies. Chapter V outlines re~uirements for
future investigations. Chapter VI presents the conclusions drawn from
the reconnaissance studies.

.

.

3
