I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Alternative 3 involves entering into a contract with the Perry Park

Water and Sanitation District to purchase water from the District's wells.

Since the District has no storage nearby, Larkspur would have to construct

a transmission line to the District's well and a storage tank on the hill

above Larkspur Heights.

The PPWS District's three deep wells near Larkspur are shown on Map 1

at the rear of this report, Their well in the swt of Section 28 near the

new Larkspur School would be closest to a potential site for a storage tank.

The length of transmission line required would be about 3,000 feet to the

storage tank site shown on Map 1. The well yields approximately 100 gpm,

To compare this alternative supply to the other alternatives, it is

necessary to convert the PPtlS District's unit charges for water to a present

worth, Criteria and assumptions used to detennine that present worth are:

1. Current water charges for outside users will remain constant
for twenty years at:

$2.70 per 1000 gallons for first 15,000 gal per quarter
$3,00 per 1000 gallons for next 85,000 gal per quarter

2. Average annual Larkspur water bill based on:

2.3 people per house times 150 gpcd average use
Annual bill at $360 for 61 homes = $21,960

3. Interest rate and tenn will be similar to that for a bond issue
a~ ?% for 20 years.

The present worth of buying water from the PPWS District for twenty

years at the current rates and for the present population is $233,000. It

is assumed that PPWS District pay any additional costs of operation and

maintenance.

13
