<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />2.3 <br /> <br />PHYSICAL ASSETS <br /> <br />The various divisions of Greeley's Water Department collectively manage, operate, and maintain <br />six high mountain dams and reservoirs, three modem water filtration treatment facilities, 138 <br />miles of large-diameter treated water transmission lines, seven miles of raw water lines, 297 <br />miles of distribution lines, and 67 mUlion gallons of treated water storage reservoirs, The <br />treatment plants have a combined capacity of 70 million gallons per day. Raw water storage <br />capacity is 8,874 acre-feet. <br /> <br />As of December, 1989, the Water Department had 11,619 metered accounts and 4,836 <br />unmetered accounts. Nineteen eighty-nine Is the sixth year of the City's universal metering <br />program which includes providing and installing meters, pits and related piping for conversion <br />of unmetered accounts to metered accounts. Since the program was initiated in 1983, a total <br />of 3670 meters have been installed through December 1989, <br /> <br />Major system maintenance and improvement projects during 1989 include completion of Phase <br />II improvements to Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant which will allow the City to meet future <br />requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and increase treated water delivery by 14 million <br />gallons per day, Improvements to the Bellvue Transmission System were continued in 1989, <br />These Improvements will significantly Increase the capacity and service Iffe of the system. <br />Design plans and specifications for the rehabilitation of Comanche Dam were completed in 1989. <br />The rehabilitation work was completed in 1990. Included were the replacement of two outlet <br />structures, construction of a new roller-compacted spillway and placement of a seepage <br />collection system. <br /> <br />In addition to the major project facHities, the Water Department owns several pump stations, <br />numerous buildings, nearly 1200 fire hydrants, laboratory equipment, office furniture and <br />equipment, miscellaneous tools and equipment, several cars and trucks, and some small <br />construction and maintenance equipment. The facilities and equipment are well maintained. <br /> <br />In 1989, the Water Department CllNned about $73,7 million of fixed assets, The net value after <br />depreciation was about $66,8 milion, The amount outstanding on general obligation water <br />bonds was $29,2 million, <br /> <br />2-3 <br />
