Alternate III:

Alternate III proposes some re-routing of the exist-

ing system. The waters from the Ridgway Ditch will be inter-

cepted at Lake Otonawanda through a new right-of-way easement

to provide a more gradual slope to Cottonwood Canyon. The

section between Lake Otonawanda and the Town's existing reser-

voirs will be connected by a 6" diameter PVC Class 200 waterline.

A new treatment plant (Exhibit XIII f.) will be constructed here

together with a 350,000 gallon steel or concrete treated water

storage tank. A small diversionary structure will be constructed

in front of the treatment plant, As water will be treated and

enter the tank with an altitude sensing valve monitoring supply

with demand, excess. water can pass through the diversion box

when there is no demand call and fill the existing reservoirs.

An auxiliary pump located in the-treatmen~ plant and extending

into the lower reservoir could draw water from it, pump it

through the filter and into the storage tank in times of low

flow or emergencies. Also, by incorporating the present exist-

ing water system into the reservoir so as to collect the over-

flow or spillage in the bottom one from the top two, said water

could be used for irrigation. Care would have to be taken to

absolutely disconnect all users of treated water for potable

purposes from the old system. During the growing season the

old system can supply non-potable water for irrigation. This

22
