I
I
1
I
I
1
I
I
1
I
I
1
1
I
1
I
I
1
1

careful experimentation would have to be conducted both in

the fields of surface and subsurface water characteristics;

type of filter media, if necessary, to bring the water to

State and EPA Standards, and cost of treating water.

As with Alternate I, water from the Springs and

Beaver Creek will be allowed to continue to East Dallas

Creek, then to the point of alternate diversion on Dallas

Creek.

No major problems are anticipated in construction.

Save for the area around the pump station, the Dallas Creek

crossing, and about one-quarter (\) of a mile south of Dallas

Creek, no unusual ground water is anticipated. Any rock en-

countered should be of shale composition and diggable by a

backhoe. (Note Exhibits XI a. & b., for soil and geological

information.) Pipe will be laid to a bury depth of 6'-00"

in the borrow ditches and 7'-00" when crossing State and

County highways.
In securing an alternate point of diversion, the legal

aspects of Alternates I & II must be taken into consideration.

Opposition to this action could cause a lengthy and costly suit.

Compounding this problem are the psychological aspects of "bad

feelings" which are usually generated among all parties con-

cerned. However, careful deliberations must be taken in weighing

the difficulties anticipated in seeking an alternate point of

diversion as compared to those already being encountered under

21
