Pressure will be regulated through the system by

pressure reduction valves.

The operating pressure will be adequate for fire demand and do-

mestic use, but should not produce problems for water heater, internal

plumbing, service lines, etc. However, as the static and dynamic head

will differ little at this pressure, some of the older homes may suffer

damage to internal plumbing fixtures and service lines.

A fairly thorough "As-Built" of the Town taken from the sewer

system will facilitate construction. However, a somewhat. high grouhd~ ..
,
water table will require that approximately 95% of the line be bedded in

washed gra~el; some drain lines installed to divert the groundwater and

in general, footage limited in relation to construction. The latter is

noted from personal experience while installing the sanitary sewer for the

Town in 197~. (Note Exhibit VII for line placement in Town.)

In all Alternates listed below save for Alternate II, a basic treat-

ment plant will be used.

2. Treatment:

a.) In noting Exhibit XIIIf, which shows the treatment
plant concept, only one filter is contemplated at this time.
Using a high rate filter of 150 gpm as the basis for evaluation,
the system will accommodate approximately 950 single tap equiva-
lents using the prescribed usage of 65 gallons per capita per day
and 3.5 persons per tap. Sufficient room will be provided and
related internal plumbing installed for two additional units when
demand necessitates. In using low cost, high rate filters, units
can be easily replaced with ones of higher rates at a minimum of
cost, i.e., 150 to 600 gpm, if needed.
