.

.

__ WASTEWATER SYSTEM (Continued)

Clear water flows over weirs into a large baffled tank where chlorine is added to disinfect
the wastewater effluent. Pathogenic (disease causing) bacteria are killed in this process.
From there the treated wastewater effluent flows into one of two wet wells,

From the wet wells, the treated secondary effluent wastewater can be pumped to the golf
course for use as irrigation water, or through another tertiary treatment plant from which
treated wastewater effluent may be discharged into East Plum Creek. Effluent quality is
consistently well above standards required by the State in our discharge permit.

The existing wastewater facility has the capacity to treat 2.3 million gallons of flow per day,
or an additional 6,133 households before a plant expansion would be necessary.

The monthly rate charged for residential sanitary sewer use is a flat fee of $18,00 for a 3/4"
meter, and a flat fee of $30,00 for a 1" meter.

STREET SYSTEM

.

The North Metropolitan District is responsible for construction of arterial and collector
streets within the development. These roadways are then dedicated to Douglas County as
public rights-of-way at which time the County Highway Department assumes maintenance
responsibilitiesforthe streets. Construction and maintenance ofthe streets within individual
parcels is the responsibility of the respective developers. The only street maintenance
provided by the District is for landscaping installed along the road rights-of-way, and for any
District installed signs.

STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM

The District is responsible for designing, inetalling and maintaining the storm drainage
system in the development. This system is comprised of swales, channels, culverts and
detention ponds that carry and or store storm waters and runoff through and out of the
community to preserve construction integrity and control erosion processes. Specific
drainage improvements within individual parcels are designed and installed by individual
developers.

The monthly rate charged for storm drainage usage is a flat fee of $6.00 for a 3/4" meter,
and $10,00 for a 1" meter.

.

3
