"

'. .

.

.

Three separate reservoir sizes will be examined and reservoir operation
studies will be conducted to estimate the water yield provided by the expanded
active storage capacity. These studies will also define the average reservoir
level fluctuations for evaluation of recreational impacts. The effect of long
term sedimentation on active storage will be considered and options to reduce
sedimentation will be evaluated.

6.0 Task 5 - Prepare Plan of Development

Under this task, preliminary design of the expanded dam and spillway will be
made for the range of sizes considered in the operations studies. The
critical element will. be the balancing of embankment material volumes needed
for the raised dam crest from the source--the auxiliary spillway excavation.
The spillway location, crest elevation, control shape, and width must be
desi gned in rel ati on to the reservoi r, exi sti ng spi 11 way , and hydrograph of
the PMF. Flood routing computations will be made to determine the size of the
auxiliary spillway and dam raising required.

Geol ogi c conditi ons near the spi 11 way expansi on and for the abutments and
foundation will be described. The structural requirements for modifying the
existing spillway and outlet works will be determined and described. Layouts
will be prepared for the new facilities, including alignment and type of
crossing of the auxiliary spillway.

Local drainage of roads and areas behind spillway walls will be provided. Any
additional requirements for sedimentation will be considered and right-of-way
requirements will be outlined.

The above components of the study \~i 11 be i ncl uded in Chapter V of the
feasi bi 1 i ty report.

7.0 Task 6 - Prepare Cost Estimates

Reconnaissance-level cost estimates will be made of a range of expanded
reservoi r storage si zes, and used to determi ne a unit cost of provi di ng ne\~

-4-
