All taps are <br /> <br />metered except for the public buildings and entities, such as the <br /> <br />clinic, courthouse, and fire station. In addition to the in-town <br /> <br />service, the Town has 16 rural metered taps and through a public tank <br /> <br />loading dock they serve approximately 250 additional rural families <br /> <br />surrounding Dove Creek. When the Town has water available, they <br /> <br />also furnish water to drilling and mining companies operating <br /> <br />in the Dove Creek area. <br /> <br />The average usage has been 100,000 gallons per day with <br /> <br />the peak month being 200,000 gallons per day. However, if sufficient <br /> <br />water was available, the peak monthly usage probably would have <br /> <br />been 300,000 gallons per day. <br /> <br />The Town of Dove Creek has now reached a critical need to <br /> <br />obtain an adequate source of water to supply the Town. As a result <br /> <br />Morcan Engineering Company has been authorized to prepare this report <br /> <br />to evaluate the demand and show the means of developing all known <br /> <br />alternative sources of supplying additional water to the Town until <br /> <br />the Dolores Project is constructed. <br /> <br />I - 8 <br />
