Stream De~letion

Under the simulated operation study the project would deplete the
flows of the Dolores River below McPhee Dam site by an average of
140,600 acre.feet annually. Anticipated neW return flm.rs, however,
would increase the runoff of the San Juan River by an average of 55,900
acre-feet, making the net depletion of the Colorado River average
84,700 acre-feet annually. The Dolores River is essentially fully
depleted for irrigation in the late summer months. According to the
Upper COlorado Basin Compact of 1948. which sets forth the basis for
ultimate diversion of that portion of the Colorado River Compact of
1922, all stream depletion of the Dolores Project is attributable to the
Colorado portion of the Colorado River flow.
