,.....

The water quality samples analyzed by the Colorado Depart-
ment of Health indicate that the water quality is of good
quality except for nitrat.e which is near the mandatory
limit of 10 mg/l. Sulfate is at the suggested limit of
250 mg/l and dissolved solids are at 710 mg/l which ex-
ceeds the suggested limit of 500 mg/l. The high sulfate
and dissolved solids content is characterh;tic of water
quality in the Lower Arkansas Valley.

The. only treatment now provided by the Town is chlorination.
'A gas chlorinator is located at the 85,000pgallon collec-
tion reservoir.

B. storage
The Town has two storage reservoirs in operation. The
first is a 85,000 gallon below-grade reinforced concrete
tank located approximately 3,000 feet northeast of the
northern boundary of Town. This tank receives and collects
water from all of the three sources mentioned above. The
tank was constructed in the mid 1930's. The condition of
the tank is considered to be fair with some leaking deve-
loping in recent years. Repair's to this reservoir are now
being considered and should be performed as soon as poss-
ible.

Two end suction centrifugal pumps are installed on top of
this reservoir and hou.sed in a small frame building.
These pumps transfer water via a 6" asbestos cement pipe
from the concrete reservoir to the newly constructed
200,000 gallon at-grade reservoir situated directly west
and approximately 1,900 feet distant of the old reservoir.
Also housed in this pump building is the gas chlorinator.

These pumps and the building enclosure will be replaced
by a new pumping facility presently under construction
and scheduled for completion in July 1981.
